Was it installed by the dealer?

All,

Just had my AUX input installed today and it works. I'll add some pictures to the post later today.

The sound quality is acceptable however not CD quality, now I think it's 'limited' by the headphone out on my Ipod and not the quality of the AUX in.

I hope to find out if there is anything to improve the spound out from the Ipod, maybe by the dock-connector.

Cheers.

How long installation took? Maybe it's possible in one day visit? I'm thinkin our summit in Belgium end of November. I would not try that in Ireland, I don't trust these people.

The installation was done by my dealer in Lier. The installation should normally take 1,5h. However I had it installed under the armrest. I watched the installation.

Rip out the front (airco, radio, etc) Put the cable in and attach the other end wher you like depending on the length of the cable. Close it up again.

Then it took about 45min to hook up the car to the computer and add the aux input in the car's menu.

Done.

I guess you could do the hardware installation, however you need a dealer to update the car config.

Any one using this

http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage...oduct_Id=149006

and can compare with the normal headset output?

Thanks.

I'm using the Belkin 12-volt adapter with an iTrip. The adapter is great (also used it in a car that had a cassette player, and it really worked well plugging the cassette adapter into the Belken headphone output). The iTrip is the weak link, unusable if running just on iPod battery power, and marginally OK with the higher power from the Belkin powering both the iPod and the iTrip.

Not yet, I'll try it tomorrow and let you know. However I think that the result will be much better with a kind of preamp, instead of a headset out.

Yep. Mine will be in the passenger footwell, above the net where the plastic is. And my dealer installs a power outlet there for me too.
