My Ride: no longer driving an E60.
I drive a E92 335i now
All,
Just had my AUX input installed today and it works. I'll add some pictures to the post later today.
The sound quality is acceptable however not CD quality, now I think it's 'limited' by the headphone out on my Ipod and not the quality of the AUX in.
I hope to find out if there is anything to improve the spound out from the Ipod, maybe by the dock-connector.

Her we go:
Go in to entertainment (sorry for the bad picture)
Once you select the source AUX input you can select Set
From there you can select TP or go for the shortcut in the Tone settings
I've opted to have the plug fixed in the compartment under the phone in the center armrest (I don't use it for anything else) I've also asked the workshop to add a 12V connection (gives some options for charging the Ipod later)
So, I've now connected my Ipod to a long cable, so music can be selected on my Ipod from the front left/right and the rear (my kids love it allready)
I hope now that I can find a way to better link my Ipod on the AUX in or maybe use a small pre-amp, and to charge the batteries.
The only remaining issue remains that we can select different tracks from the Idrive, but hey I can live with distance, I'll typically use it on long distances and then one of my kids will be dj.

The part can be ordered in the US. No one can tell me if it can be installed in the US. I've ordered the part, hopefully it will come in by next week and I'll update everyone on if I can get it installed. Cost $99.
