I just had the aux input installed (twice) They crossed the wires initially....I have a portable DVD player connected and there's a humming noise present... I thought it maybe coming from the power adapter so I ran a test without it and was still getting the distortion. Is this normal?

I don't have the AUX input but I used one once on an E90 loaner. What kind of connecting cable are you using? I used a real cheap one and had some noise but after changing to a better cable, the noise was gone.

Also, assuming you're using a headphone output, what volume setting are you using on the DVD player? You don't want to be maxed out but you don't want to be real low either.

That's all I have since I really don't have first-hand experience lasting more than a day or so...

Thanks Rudy....I'll check my cable. It's gold plated but from Radio Shack so I'll try something else. Anyone else experience this?

Hi,
Me too and my cable is also Gold plated but sometimes it's really slow and noisy and sometimes it's just Mono and sometimes it sounds stereo, I think AUX doesn't works well, i installed it last week but i don't really enjoy this, Waiting for the interface from DOM and thn everything will be allright so i could see the DVD on my I.Drive,

Check the cable, and the connections, and the volume setting of the DVD player.

Whenever I have a problem I check the connections and find out the cable is not in correctly. Once fixed, all is fine.

The sound quality on the AUX Input is dreadful... with or without the resistors inline.

I get alternator noise from the cigarette charger, and I can even hear the sound of the iPod hard drive accessing through the stereo.

German electrical systems are just noisy. The Japs have them beat when it comes to electronics. No contest.

German systems? What do you think we get the electronics from?

Wow! I wish I have known that before spending a few hundred dollars! ....what's the best way to go for Aux audio using a video source to the NavTv unit???
