My Ride: 2006 550i Titanium Silver Metallic, Black Dakota Leather, Anthracite Maple Wood Trim, Cold Weather Package, Premium Sound Package, Sport Package, Steptronic, Navigation, Electric Rear Sunshades, Heated Rear Seats, Sirius Radio
I completely upgraded the audio in my O3 M3. I have 2 Diamond audio amps, a 10" Diamond audio subwoofer in the trunk, and 2 sets of Boston Acoustic 5" component speakers. The cost with install was close to $4000., but in my opinion well worth it. I was talking with my client advisor re using these in the 545 if I were to purchase this car. He cautioned that due to the way the electronics are all integrated this would not be a good idea.
My questions: 1. Is this true? 2. Would it be possible to just integrate a single amp and bass box with the standard audio? I really do not care about surround sound or center speaker issues. I just want great stereo. My M3 is like a concert on wheels, and to be honest I think I would miss this more than anything else if I purchase the 545. Thanks for any help.

All you need is a simple convertor which connects to the rear speakers and thats it. You can connect an amp and use it for base using the stock headunit. It isnt recommended that you use a convertor for mids and highs though because of the harsh distortion you will get but if your just connecting a sub then it doesnt really matter.
Ive done this in several cars I have owned that do not have a normal sized din such as the 5series. If you really want to have a decent system then go get the logic 7 option for the 5 series and use your sub and sub amp on your car. However your mids wont be "desirable" to use. You will get ALOT of road noise
