Is it worth it to get for a 545 manual? Just looking for opinions. Thanks!

I was just assuming it would be most beneficial for those with 6 bangers; v8 manual trans I was assuming wouldn't notice nearly as much difference..

when a member installed it in my car for a lil test drive, i hated it. it didnt feel comfy at all. It feels like I'm flooring it. Just save ur $ on a remap unless u like it to tap on ur throttle and it goes nuts kind of feeling. Honestly, it feels great once in a while but not all the time.

I have SB in my Steptronic 550. It does indeed make the car a harder to drive smoothly. You do get used to it but to drive smoothly around time, you have to baby the throttle a little more. I don't believe that the SB entirely eliminates the throttle lag delay (at least in the automatic) but I understand that the signal is stronger in the manual trans cars.

Regardless of the size and power of the engine in the E60, BMW appears to have designed them all with a throttle lag delay. In the Step 550, the SB does not eliminate the delay but it does seem to shorten it a little. Also, it takes less application of the gas to get full power (you don't have to press as hard). There is no doubt that with SB, the throttle is touchier.

An ECU remap is a different beast than a SB. SB offers no gain in power -- just a more responsive gas pedal. An ECU remap gains power.
