My 530xi is still totally stock.
I would like to be able to lower it in the future but don't know how this is affected by it being AWD

Actually, coilovers is pretty much your only option - KW V3, to be specific. Yes, people have lowered on H&R springs, but the ride becomes bouncy and you're risking killing your shocks/struts prematurely. Ask member MacFly for the best price on KW's. If you do the H&R's don't come running back with a bunch of issues later and don't say you've not been warned
