I just wanted to find out if there are any of you guys running 255's on the front wheels. If so I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions:
1. What is the wheel's size (width)?
2. What is the wheel's offset?
3. What is the tire's profile?
4. Is it rubbing?......Do you have any other problems?
5. Did you have to make any modifications such as rolling the fenders?
Thanks in Advance,

Here's a thread you just missed: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=26737&hl=255
Thanks for the link jiio There were a couple of people there who had 255's on 20's. I PM'd them to see if they can tell me the wheel widths and offsets.
I wouldn't mind hearing from people who have 255's on 19's as well.

I heard that 255 in the fronts would rub, contact tirerack and they would be able to give you details, i beleive they told me the biggest without modifications is 245 in the front.

My Ride: 2004 545i - 6 speed manual (July 04 build), silver-grey/black, sports package std equipment (18", active roll, active steering, adaptive headlights), premium sound, bluetooth enabled, folding rear seat, lumbar, 3m hood/bumper protective film, rear tint, euro reflectors.
when I was checking out tires for my 166M's, I was told that a 255/35/19 was a recommended tire size by Americas Tire Company. HOWEVER, it all depends on the offset.
If you compare this tire size with a stock 18 - 245/40/18, the 255 is about .39 wider and .31 diameter (only about .15 taller). On a 20mm offset rim, it looked like it would be ok. You could probably even drop to a 18mm offset rim. The problem with the 166M is that it has a 12mm offset.
I am running a 245/40/19 which is 1.0 diameter bigger on a modified 166M (14-15mm offset) and it clears. I get a very, very slight rub if I hit a big dip while I am not centered.
BTW, I don't think rolling the front fenders is an option, there is no lip on the inside (they are rolled already).

Thanks to everyone for the information.
I know there are people who run 255's at the front on 9 x 20 wheels with 24mm offsets without any rubbing problems. So the 255's are OK as long as the wheel width and offset are somewhat equivalent to the 9" ET24. The problem is finding wheels that I like that also match those specs (8" or 8.5" with the equivalent offset of 24mm on the 9").
I don't mind going with 245's instead of 255's if the wheel width were 8". However, on the 166M's the width is 8.5" which makes the 245 not stick out as much as I would like. I just don't like it when the tire and wheel are almost exactly the same width. or worse when the tire is narrower than the wheel and the tire shoulder goes in. Many aftermarket wheel/tire setups I see are like this. When I looked at the 166M's on the M5 (which has 255's at the front) it seemed like I would not want the tire to stick out any less than it did there.....hence my reluctance to go with 245's on an 8.5" wheel.
