Hi Guys

Does anyone know if there's any gain in performance after installing an ACS exhaust?

Thx

Bunbun.

I would say based on the E46 M3 ACS exhaust I have, no. The only benefit outside of a more tuned sound is looks and weight savings. On a E60 the weight savings are not going to be a factor unless its made of a new space age polymer like Brown25.

Usually an exhaust does not really give you more hp. But to my knowledge an aftermarket exhaust is suppose to free up the flow of air coming out of the exhaust from your engine, so it basically allows your car to breathe easier which gives you the "added" hp.

According to igor, he didn't notice a performance gain. Looked really nice though.

yes and nowdays BMW exhaust sytems are very close to free flow and are tuned to deliver the most of the engine. IF you combine tthe exhaust with an intake you may see 5 hp more and more noise . I personally changed my exhaust, chip, pulley and intake in my old e46m and saw some gains. In this one I tried an exhaust and the only think i noticed (based on my buttdyno) was a bit better aceleration at hig speeds otherwise it was too noisy so i removed it and went back to stock

Yes, I would agree that the gain would be felt more while driving at higher speeds. But it sure does sound nice!!

My B&B was definitely lighter than stock (which was very heavy) but I'm not sure about the ACS . Sounds great (which is what I was looking for) but unsure if any performance gains. Flows better than stock.

I see very positive responses from 545 memebrs. I have not seen anyone witha 530 exhaust; specially in an automatic. IIMHO the after market exhaust was a bit too loud. I have hear a 545 with an exhaust and sounds sweet but not the E60 530i. Even my friend has the same exhasut in his E39 530 and sound nice. We looked under the car and the systems are different..why? they both have the same engine <_< but i noticed he has a silencer around the middle of the car where mine oges straight thru the exhaust...
