My new car only has the dealer plastic frame. Since I don't get paid by them to advertise their dealership, I am going to remove it. I don't like the look, however, of the stand-alone plate with nothing around it. Also, the car only came with two screws for the bracket that holds the plate, so unless I buy more hardware, I would only be able to screw in the top two screws anyway.

I have been looking at (all made from stainless steel), (1) black, (2) chrome, or (3) carbon fiber look. I also looked at some of the enclosed plastic "bubble" type frames. I don't have any red-light cameras or speed cameras around me, so I don't need one of those distortion plate covers.

Finally, I have been considering between (out of the metal frames) (a) plain, (b) with BMW etched on frame, ? with 545 etched on frame, (d) with roundel etched on frame (e) with more than one of the forgoing etched on frame.

Who the hell knew that picking out a license plate frame would be so complicated!

The car is Silver with shadowline trim. I'm leaning towards the plain carbon fiber style black stainless steel look. What do you think?

It sounds like you have too many things to worry about in your life. You should seek out professional help.

Let me make is easier for you.

1. Black or chrome.
2. BMW words at the bottom only. Nothing at the top to avoid any local ordinance if any.
3. Go to your dealership can get one of these high quality frame or Ebay if cheaper, avoid not those cheap China made frames on Ebay that are a dime a dozen.
4. Install it on your car.

You'll never look back again.

Actually, I think I have too little to worry about, which makes me think of random things like this. If my life were more stressful, I wouldn't have the time to focus on license plate frames.

Thanks for the help guys. Does anyone know a good Indie shop that can install this frame on my car when I eventually get it?

OK, that was a joke.

I am, seriously, though hung up about the chrome vs. black look, because I think I would like to black out the front grills at some point and maybe get black or anthracite or whatever wheels, in which case I should get a black frame, I suppose.
