Any experience with copies of E60 wheels?

My Ride: E60 530i, Dynamic Drive, Xenon, Active steering, Navi Business, 17 inch 122, comfort seat, active seats, professional telephone, PDC, Logic 7, 6 CD box., probably the oldest E60 in the forum registered BMW in Munich marts 2003.
I?ve seen a set of 19? M5-style wheels (see picture) on www.schmiedmann.com. Mounted with Goodyear F1 Eagle they will be a little less than 2000,- euros (25% VAT included). These are considerable cheaper than buying an original set but I don?t know how good the quality is? How clearly will it show that these are copies? Does anyone know of good EU-internet shops selling wheels and other BMW accessories?

So I am ordering my new 530 in May and was wondoring I cud save some money order replicas or these FAKE BMW rims, nice idea, but if we buy e60 why we shall buy some cheap ones.
First is sure the quality is nothing like BMW, secondly if sg. happens and your car is new then you are not coverred by the warranty. I decided to go for a Hamann set and maybe go for the stock sh*t trapezoid, or other cheaper OM but BMW.-)
Why you should go for a fake M5 rim??? I also once ordered the side gills for e60.
Than I put in front my Kyosho M5 collection there it is cool and nice.
But not even on my debadged.-) 530. We Bimmers shall not act like we have sg we don't ???
So go for a nice OM BMW or an other brand like OZ, ACS, HRE, BBS as you like ,even with Toora-at least those will be real and not fake.
Of course it is only my opinion.
what do you think guys?

However, like any other spare part for BMW I guess the wheels are also made by subcontractors which may supply the market with such wheels without involving BMW. You would be stupid to buy the originals if the "fake" are produced on the same machine. Anyone who thinks they got original wheels that they?ve not bought from BMW?

Hello Claus,
Reading your info I get confused. Actually we are speaking here about two different wheels:
The M-Sport wheel (Type 135) http://zoouz.free.fr/Wheels/TMP_wheel/bmw_wheel_135.jpg
and the M5 wheel (Type 166) http://zoouz.free.fr/Wheels/TMP_wheel/bmw_wheel_166.jpg
The latter is not available for E60/E61 except M5.
There are however some aftermarket versions of the Type 166 which I doubt have the same build quality as BMW's. (therefore they are also less expensive).
If I was 100% sure that both Original and aftermarket came from one and the same company I would not hesitate...but that seems very questionable

Reading your info I get confused. Actually we are speaking here about two different wheels:
The M-Sport wheel (Type 135) http://zoouz.free.fr/Wheels/TMP_wheel/bmw_wheel_135.jpg
and the M5 wheel (Type 166) http://zoouz.free.fr/Wheels/TMP_wheel/bmw_wheel_166.jpg
The latter is not available for E60/E61 except M5.
There are however some aftermarket versions of the Type 166 which I doubt have the same build quality as BMW's. (therefore they are also less expensive).
If I was 100% sure that both Original and aftermarket came from one and the same company I would not hesitate...but that seems very questionable

Most of them sure not bad quality made in Italy, but does it really worth risking or at higher speeds even your life?
Why do you think in Europe we do not have much chromes? they weaken the alu can brake easier... but now as it is so trend must manufactures are "coloring" the alu NOT COATING!!!! to look like alu.
It is matter of taste and money. But safety is not question of money...
LAST TIME 166 ///M is for REAL ///M5 as the disk and all is quite different, yes you can have all around Europe an M5 LOOK rim but all members of this Forum will now you are bling-bling.
Seen some even on 3er compact
