Angel eye LED resistor too hot lci

I checked my LED angel resistor that cane with the leds that I had tucked away in the headlight housing to close the cover. As soon as stopped after a 30 min drive, I pulled it out it was so hot I could not touch it. I am concerned what it may end up doing to the angel eye rings and the housing in general. I like the look and have read various Install Installnstructions but I would like some definitive experienced responses whether it is safe to keep these within the headlight housing for long road trips > 5hrs..

Sorry if this has been discussed before but I did try to search..

can you mount it outside the light?

Not really as the cover needs to be on at all times. I might try a rubber grommet at drill a who in the cover. But I still would have to figure where to attach the resistor pack. All posts I've read so far seem to say to just pack them all within the headlight. Sounds dangerous to me.

Which ones are they? Post pics?

If possible, just have someone code out the error, that way you can just remove the resistors entirely.

I bought the same brand LED's for my pre LCI...Mine also go hot and eventually burnt out and no longer work...

Removed the resistors and tested with just the power modules. The power modules dont get as hot as the resistor and the car isn't throwing any codes. Hopefully they wont burn out soon but also hoping that OSRAM comes up with an H8 Replaceable Joule LED bulb in white by that time
