Default AlpineMSS HID AE vs John HID AE kit

Hello,

I am looking at the HID kits that are currently available and tested (not the ebay kinds) for E60 LCI.

I am leaning towards the HID AE vs the LED because of the light output. I have heard the LED is crisper but gets washed out in day light. I have hard time justifying $250 for LEDs as they components themselves are very inexpensive from a manufacturing perspective.

HID kit that John sells at $230 https://5series.net/forums/vendor-cl...4/#post1227538 vs Alpine @ $180 http://www.alpinemss.com/product_p/HIDan.htmhttp://, what are the main differences? I think 2 relay vs 1 relay is one thing but what does that actually give/do?

AE Side by Side Comparison... and finally found a good one!! - Bimmerfest - BMW Forums as a review for the Alpine.

I am torn between the 2 with the current options on the market.

Does anyone have any comparisons between the 2?

thanks

Honestly, I don't think that the number of relay's really makes much of a difference. I've been running off one relay for 6 months. I would make a decision based on the level of support and the quality of the components more then anything.

I personally had Alpine MSS HID Angel eyes install was a breeze, Alex from Alpine had instructional videos that made it super simple to install. Alex is fast on emails too. not that you would need to email him, because the videos are easy to understand. I had Alex's HID angels for over a year and had no problems,at all. i even bought his angel eys for my current car my M3. new owner of my 5, loves the angel eyes and gets compliments whereever he goes.

I have not had the pleasure to work with Johns angel eyes but i know his stuff is quality stuff as well. he was Very helpful and knowledgeable about his product when i pmd him also a cool guy.

all it comes down to is your preference. good luck either way you will not be disappointed. =)

Thanks for all of your input guys.

The problem I have is there is no way to tell the quality of parts prior to purchasing. The support and install on both seems pretty straight fwd.

John, you have to drill a hole in the back cover. With Alpine, videos showed on the 3 that you didn't have to drill. Not sure on the 5? Stylin, can you confirm?

thanks
