Default Are all e60 steering wheels the heated and compatible?

Hello everyone,
i have a chance to swap my pitted wheel for the same wheel but the new-er wheel is in much better condition. the wheel's airbag and shape of the wheel looks identical to what i have now.
The car is a 2005 525 and the wheel is off a 2008 528i. as long as its heated, should it be the same wheel and fit?
How do i check if its heated without having it an plugging it in. the seller is unsure if its heated.

thanks for your time!

any help or input you could give me would be great

Is your car pre or post 09/2005? In that month some things changed, like the physical attaching points of the steering wheel.

Not all steering wheels are heated. However I can't tell how to check it.

A couple of thoughts...

Can you check if there's a switch to turn on the heating function?
If you have the vin, could you check to see if it originally had that option?

no, my car is an 05 pre lci with a build date of 12/2004

however the new steering wheel im looking at is post 09/2005 considering it a 2008 vehicle.
the seller doesn't know a whole lot about the wheel for sale and cant figure how to tell if its heated.

does this gap in production make things difficult to match up?

The answer is: NO

They are different: the heated one has a connector more, coming out from the center.

I successfully retrofitted the heated steering but had to change a lot of parts.

It's different on the rear side: probably with some surgery you could, but it isn't worthing.

I know that the rear is different... But a friend of mine is selling a lci original hamann carbon fiber with leather steering wheel (new). I just love the way it looks. I wanted to see if anyone managed in swapping a lci steering wheel on a pre lci.

The hamann steering wheel is just awesome, and I am willing to modify something in order for it to work... I attached a pic of the steering wheel that I want to install.
