I have a 2004 E60 530i and was thinking of adding a supercharger and a new exhaust for my car. Called Dinan and enquired if they had any packages for the 530 but apparently they haven't got anything as yet.

Are there any other tuning companies out there which offer products which do not void my BMW warranty?

 

you can put any exhaust on your ride and it will not affect the warranty, however any engine Mods not done thru Dinan Void the warranty. hope this helps

What Dinan and other tuning companys do is, they give you a warranty for their tuning, what is a warranty from the tuning company, not BMW. Therefore the warranty rules are different, can even be better, but you have to check.
Example: If you put a different muffler on the car, the BMW warranty for the complete exhaust system is voided.

 

Beside an exhaust and Dinan parts, you can remove your spare tire and jack, for example, and put on smaller tires to get a higher numerical final drive ratio. ~(;^) Dumb post, I know. It's just that kind of day. Sorry.

I thought there's a law that states that dealers would have to prove that your aftermarket item is the direct cause of a particular failure before they can void the warranty?

[/quote]Dinan has claimed to me via phone that no customer has ever had to pay for what would have been a covered repair if a Dinan part has been installed by a certified Dinan dealer. Dinan says that either BMW or Dinan, itself, always has paid. I would not sweat having Dinan parts installed by only a Dinan certified shop. I prefer going to a BMW dealer that is Dinan certified to minimize potential hassles.

I prefer going to a BMW dealer that is Dinan certified to minimize potential hassles. For the same reason, I had my BMW dealer install my B&B. They told be the warranty issues would be no different than with a Dinan exhaust, but I think there could be exceptions to that rule--with no Dinan to come to the rescue. Still, they were convincing enough that there would be no warranty issues that I did not wait for a Dinan exhaust to be released. And, almost nothing can be said legitimately to have failed because of an aftermarket cat back exhaust.

Went to my dealer today to ask if they could install a B&B exhaust for me and if it would void the warranty. They said it should not void the warranty. So i've got a B&B exhaust on order now...eagerly waiting! =)

 

Good deal Tazzie. Welcome to the B&B and after-market exhausts clubs. I am sure you know, but it is very important that your dealer follow the B&B instructions precisely. I am not sure if you saw my original post concering my dealer's installation, but I'll finid it and bump it to the top. Also, check out the other thread that deals with various adjustments that are possible after installation. This thread contains good info from Centurion, realtyman, me, and others. Realtyman posted sound clips on some thread, but you need to listen to them on something way better than a laptop to get good approximation to live.
