A friend of mine is also driving an E60 (530i). Unfortunately he doesn't speak english well enough to be a member of this forum (worse than mine
). But he is learning.
So I write his question.
His car doesn't have the bi-Xenon headlights which is an optional feature here but the standard halogen H7 bulbs for low and high beamers. I told him it was a big mistake but .. too late.
He is not considering an after-market nor retrofit Xenon kit because of the price.
Do you guys know if there is an H7 bulb (such as PIAA products) that could replace the standard halogen bulb and be as close as possible to the Xenon lighting. I have seen the PIAA range of products on the Internet but I am wondering if anyone has tested this for low and/or high beamers ?

Get "Osram Silverstar" or "Philips Vision Plus"
They are the most powerfull Halogen bulbs and give up to 50% more light than the standard ones, and are made by Osram or Philips who also supply the originals to BMW
They should be easy to find in Europe
If you cannot find them, here is a UK website that sell them, and you can read about them www.powerbulbs.co.uk

I made the same mistake when I purchase my last car. When I bought my E60, I made sure I get bi-Xenon. I don't want to see Acura, Lexus, or Infiniti has better lights than me when I pass by them.

Did you notice a huge improvement in visibility when driving with the PIAA H7 4700k vs. the standard ones ?

[/quote]It's just the colour of the light makes it look quite close to Xenon bulb, visibility is actually worse as there is a blue coating on the bulb surface.
