Adding SAT Radio to an 08 550 ??

My Ride: 2011, X6 Hybrid . Alpine White , every option. 20" Conti' NON runflats,OEM trunk spoiler , LUX V3 AE's , HP Thunder Fogs , custom front bumper reflector delete........
I want to add Sat radio , what is the process, does the receiver need to be visible or will it work via the i drive ?

I was wondering the same thing, i had a loaner car last week with the sat radio ans started thinking about retro fitting it in with the I drive, if it has to be a stand alone i am not interested...

Unit is installed in the trunk and is controlled using the iDrive, just like radio or iPod options...

if you get the sirius module and bracket from a dealer (circle bmw has good prices for it online but check w/Garry) you can plug it in, take it to the dealer and have them code it. then yes, it shows up on the idrive as another option next to FM AM CD on the top of the audio page.

Hmmmm ? ! The install looks very simple but it appears that the pairing didn't happen easily...........I'll pm Paul and ask a few more questions ..........BTW thanks for the link Doc !
