Added the iPOD retrofit to my 545i
#23
I'm in Atlanta I took mine to the dealership in Decatur to get the ipod kit installed about 2 days ago. It costed me $350 for the kit and $500 for the install. So I just paid a good 850 for mine. I have an issue right now that i'm trying to figure out. I have the ipod classic 160gig and I have about 70gigs of music on it. For some reason it does not see everything on the ipod. When I scroll down thru the idrive on my library it stops at the 500th song and will not scroll down anymore. When I go to the MP3 albums It only scroll down to the D's and stops. So for a work around I just created a couple playlist with things I want to hear. Has anybody else had this problem? or know what it could be? I'm plan on taking it back to the dealership next week to see if they can fix it or tell me what the problem is. Right now i'm just thinking that may I have WWAAAYY to many songs on my ipod (15,500).

Yup that's the known main issue of OEM iPod interface is song list limitation and the only way around is by using playlist.
Aftermarket interface (I'm using Dension GW500) group the list by break down huge number of songs in multiple pages.

There actually is a way to do things remotely from computer perspective!
As long as the owner of the car getting coded has the cable and a windows computer, and a reliable connection for both coder and the car owner, it can be done via teamviewer(remote control the other computer via the Internet, of course with permission).
But the coder needs to start from the scratch though, i.e., download the software required and stuffs.
just sayin'

they said that folders will be labelled as 'CD1, CD2 etc' and track names will merely be 'Track 1, Track 2' etc..
My car did not work when they tried the MP3 re-coding
