activating sirius radio nightmare! now nothing works

Been trying to get Siruis the past 2 days. Sirius says that I am receiving the signal but the check marks that it shows in the owners manual are not in my display. i found the receiver in the trunk. Seen where people had posted about unplugging battery to drain power/reset. I unplugged the receiver for several minutes. Plugged back in, and now idrive does not respond nor do the buttons on the steering wheel. the display shows the home screen but cannot move from there. the time and date have dashes. removed the cd and put back in. it shows cd in lower left corner. use the arrows and it will go to cd1, etc. Removed cd again and it shows the fm presets in lower left corner. Main screen never changes. Any ideas PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
idrive now working. When i go into presets and attempt to disable/enable like it shows in the owners manual, it does absolutely nothing but CALL SIRIUS message comes up. Does anyone know if you have to be receiving the signals from them for your radio to accept changes?
