I would go with a chrome grill on top and and put a mesh grill behind the bottom on and maybe even the top one (at least mock it up and see how it looks).

What the performance autobody shop did to my E60 was physically remove the ECU and sent it to Powerchip to get reprogrammed by their software. And when it was sent back to the shop, they simply had to just install the ECU back into the E60, and let it relearn all the values. The results were pretty noticeable to me and my 70 yr old father.

To my understanding, the shop and Powerchip both told me that it is a reprogramming of the software, no soldering of any external chip is involved. Therefore, undetectable by BMW, so warranty will not be voided. The beauty of it is, if I want the OEM software, they have a copy of it in their database, and I can always flash it back to the OEM anytime I choose to.

My shop has connections to local dealerships, so that's an extra coverage blanket for me to not get my warranty voided if questions do come up i guess.

ACS painted and installed was about $1100. Powerchip installed was about $900.
