8000k D1S Bulbs

Has anyone here replaced their stock 4300k bulb with an aftermarket 8000k bulb? Any warning lights come on inside? I'm thinkin of doing this in my 08 M5 and just want to make sure its possible without warning lights going on... thanks guys!

better wait for a while because i bought D1S for my E70 X5 and it didnt work...

Replacing the HID bulb is fine. You already have the ballast and ignitor. Just make sure you know which type of HID bulb you have. I'm not sure about what the 2008 m5 has. either D1S or D2S.

BD997, Hella makes the 8000K D1S bulbs for our cars. I know M5Board member Polar993 bought them in 6000K as well as 8000K. You should PM him. I think they're around $275 a set.

Personally, I prefer 6000K since that's approximately at the optimum temp where you can get the bluish effect before losing light output if you go to a higher temperature rating.
