I just bought a 2010 550i (M Sport, M Suspension, M Suspension,HUD, 7 Logic) and I am anxious to see what you are planning. I have a list to buy from BavAuto.com .

Need to know how to wire the manual clutch. How to wire the clutch safety switch into the computer. 2005 545i automatic to manual

Trans...auto to manual
Hi how are you? I have a 545i 2005 I would like to change to manual. Can you tell me what parts need changing?

Easy. Sell your car then buy one with a manual transmission.

There are a great number of shopping list Just did a combinations for doing the swap. For example, the drive train in this build is comprised of a 3.38 rear end, aftermarket clutch/pp/dmf, and a hybrid drive-shaft. People aiming for a stock-like setup would go with a 2.93 rear end and all the parts that go along with that. There are also other details like spline counts and bolt circle diameter differences in the parts depending on build dates. Requires some attention to detail and one shopping list is unlikely to work for in all instances. To add, this build ended up making use of new parts even in cases where it was not required (think pedals, covers, bushings, bolts, etc.) so wouldn't want to impose that shopping list on anyone. Here is what I will do..if someone has already purchased the manual transmission and is looking to do the swap, drop me a line and I'll help you build a parts list.
Update: Car appears to be running healthy and strong. Ended up yanking the transmission electronics from the automatic transmission and fitting them to the electrical harness. The EGS code went away and the car came out of limp mode. It is unbelievable how responsive the motor is when blipping the throttle. Either it's been a long time since I've sat in the drivers seat when things worked like they should, or the lightened flywheel and other goodies made a huge difference. Decided to gut the car. Have a bunch of interior pieces available for local purchase/pickup if anyone is looking for parts. Also willing to trade. |
All op had to do to make this work was to depin the canbus wires on the trans harness and solder them together to complete the canbus loop which was broken when removing the auto trans (match the wires colors on the two twisted pairs), remove the auto trans from the vo, default code the cluster, cas, light module and dsc module then clear the auto trans out of the variant adaptations in inpa, then clear the errors codes from all modules. it's the same process for e90's.
