My Ride: 2008 550i
![Default](https://5series.net/forums/images/icons/icon1.gif)
I've tried the LED kit from ebay and then the Nokya H8 cosmic blue bulbs but neither one of these made me satisfied to change the color of the angel eye rings. Does anyone have a better solution? I have a 2008 BMW 550i LCI and the LED kit gave me an error code so I had to return it. The cosmic blue is just not bright enough. I'm thinking about the 18 SMD LED H8 next but not sure it that would cause an error code to appear. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
John
P.S. I did a search for H8 and angel eyes on this forum but nothing came up. Odd...

HID angel eyes will most likely be the most recc'd for you by members here....take a stroll thru the vendor section...
This is assuming your 550i is an LCI 2008 and not a preLCI 2007, since you are mentioning H8 bulbs...
Unfortunately, all H8 LED upgrades for the e60 have been less than satisfactory...

If you seek brightness, HID is you best bet. Contact member John@motorcepts as his kit is awesome and error free.

I sell the HID angel eyes. It may looked washed at certain angles but also at certain angles, it's amazing. I will be developing something in the near future to dim the center ring and brighten the outer ring.

If you are looking for plug and play without washed out rings, get the Genesis ICE
If you want hyper bright but no distinction, we can offer you an HID system (highly not recommended) for $115 shipped (with resistors)
If you want the best setup with the best distinction, get the Orion V2 kit, though be prepared to get your hands dirty.

I am developing something that will make the rings more even when the shop is fully opened.
I have SEVERAL customers complained that the $115 HID kits with resistor does NOT work. Is that why you HIGHLY do not recommend them?
I HIGHLY recommend the HID angel eyes. They are the brightest and I can even drive with JUST angel eyes at night without any low beams on the highway.

1) there is no proof that they don't harm the fiber optics and burn them over time
2) The high beam ring isn't a ring, it's just a big ball of light and it's blinding (and I love things overly bright so that's saying something).
3) It's still "piss poor" on the outside ring as a comparison to the inside ring. Very poorly done.
If you do it more even, then I'm interested in talking to you about reselling it for you to our customers/retailers as well.
