545i 05 6 - Speed Short Shift Kit
#1
Tried searching but saw nothing on SSK's. Find it hard to believe that everyone is satisfied with the stock kit. Anyways, I'm new to BMW's, former STi guy, and looking at a SSK as my first mod. So far I have come across a few options, Rogue and UUC. The UUC looks to be much higher quality, but want some advice on others I should consider. Thanks!

other option is a stock shifter- from another car. there is a short(er) shifter available for the 545, about a 20% reduction in throw; or you can go with a z3 2.8 shifter, that will be a roughly 30% reduction. Both are around $55. None have the advantages of the Rogue or UUC shifters, but then again, they're 25% of the price.

I have seen that on bimmerfest, but will prob jsut go with a total aftermarket overhaul. Its one of those mods that you interact with everytime you drive so not worth cutting corners INMO. If you had to go UUC or Rogue which do you think is better?
thanks

But seriously- go to the dealer and sit in an 06 or newer 550 6 speed- the factory did shorten the shifts and the result is still buttery smooth and considerably shorter. Yes, the Rogue has a high-tech plastic that's not supposed to wear out, and the UUC has the ball bearings, but you're not "cutting corners" by installing a factory shifter.
