High depreciation car, high fuel consumption, lower milage, expensive petrol, not as moddable as the diesels (?/hp), higher service cost, shorter service periods...
In my head the daily cars like sedans, tourings and suvs should be only diesels. Only the truly sports cars like Porsche, Ferrari, Lamb, Audi RS, BMW M's and AMG's should be petrol.

High depreciation car ? If you keep it a few years doesn't matter .
high fuel consumption ? 10.5 l/100 km, @ 140 kmh : is it high ?
Expensive petrol/higher consumption ? +1000 EUR/year, ok .
Not as moddable as the diesels ?
ROTFL, +50 HP from the exhaust . Then you can change flywheel, camshaft, add a supercharger, etc.
Higher service cost ? In my country the service for a 535d is more expensive .
Finally, the V8 petrol is reliable (even tuned, because exhaust/catalysts and headers) don't stress the engine more than stock configuration), the 3.0d biturbo NO .
M5 ? Useless car : no torque under 6k rpm, high weight, crazy consumption, double expensive service : 545i/550i is the best E60 .
The M has only the LSD, that now you can install on all E60 for only ? 1k .
