Hi everyone,
I'm new on this forum (in fact I join it a while ago, but this is my first post).
So, could anyone tell me if there are any major differences between a 535d engine with 272HP and the new X3.0ds with 286 HP.
Having a 535d, I'm wondering if I could ask my BMW dealer for "tuning" my engine to 286HP ?
Many thanks in advance.

I doubt the dealer will "tune" your 535d. Why not take it to DMS or some other well-known tunning shop? They'll remap the ECU and you'll have over 300 hp and gobs and gobs of torque.

It's not just a little software tune, it's a rather different engine.
The 535d's before the facelift base on the 3.0d M57N engine that produced 218 hp, while the LCI 535d's (and 335d and 3.0sd) are based on the M57N2 which was the later introduced, lighter engine giving 231 hp.
If you want more steam, as the others said, get it mapped. Mine was done by www.e-maps.co.uk and since it's been done the grin doesn't go away. (and that is ages ago)
