i just noticed that the tyre thickness on the fronts are considered as slightly thicker than what i'm currently using...so, that means it's not just the width issue, but thickness of the tyres too ...its a bit odd that the guy using the rims before put on a very odd setup of tyres...usually, if the fronts are 255/35/20, then the rears should be 285/30/20 at least...

Thank you for the welcome, and thank you for the advice!

Quick replies, and very friendly - just like the forum i run myself (but to do with Audio Visual products by a Danish Manufacturer).

Good work guys! (and gals?)

Lee

PS - Is the DMS chip still the way to go? I read some 'few month old' posts that pointed that way....
Welcome aboard Lee.

And yes, Vegastrashed is a gal. She's just confused.

Thank you all. I'm currently in negotiation with the seller, but it's like tring to get a snake in a headlock haggling the price!

Sorry to hear vegastrashed is confused - but wether he or she is a guy or a gal, he or she has a fine taste in cars!

One more thing i meant to ask about... I was looking in the user manual, and it mentioned a USB connector for my ipod. I scrambled around under the center armrest for god knows how long, only to find the "*" next to it in the manual meant "optional extra"

How dificult is this to retro-fit?

Bump... anyone with info on the USB kit to use my ipod in the car? I bought a 3.5mm to 3.5mm minijack lead, but my ipod keps flapping around on the armrest!

Just checked - and he told me wrongly. Looking at the images he supplied me of the wheels, the rears are 285/30/20. However - i'm still unclear as to wether i need to change the front tyres for them to fit?

As i understand, i will need to replace the current 255/35/20 front tyres with 245/30/20 and i'll be fine? However, member bmw_wpq31 seems to think removal of the spacers will mean i can use the tyres already fitted..

Sorry to ask for this to be reconfirmed - but i don't want to go out and buy ?350 ($700) worth of rubber to find out i got it wrong!

Lee, fyi, if the hartge classic 2 rims that you are buying are in complete "like new" condition, you should receive 2 pcs of hartge front spacers and 20 pcs of hartge lugnuts with the rims and tyres (which come with pirelli or continental).

If the rims are with continental contact2/3 (front : 255/35/20 and rear 285/30/20), it'll fit with no rubbing issue on the rear, but on the front, the spacer cannot be fitted...

If the rims are with pirelli tyres, you will need to change all your tyres due to the shape of the sidewalls which will give you rubbing issues on both fronts and rears...(even if the car isn't dropped)

given you input on my own experience, the rest is up to you...fyi, these rims are damn nice...if the price is right, you should buy them...

I've actually bought them now, and yes - they really are lovely. They are about 5 hours away by car, so my parents actually collected them for me (they live 20 mins away from them) and i'll be going up to collect them in a couple of weeks.

They did indeed come with spacers and nuts, but i'm gutted to say they have Pirellis fitted..

I was in fact given the wrong sizes by the seller, and they are in fact 285/30/20 rear and 255/35/20 front.

Looking at the Hartge 530d with the 20" Classic 2's fitted it gives 285/25/20 rear and 245/30/20 front as the correct tyre sizes. Are these what i need?

Many thanks for all your input in this guys. Nothing worse than fitting new wheels to hear loud rubbing!

I don't think I mentioned it in my earlier response but another contributing factor with rubbing is the offsets of the wheels. Do you know what they happen to be for the front and rear?

I'll ask the folks to carefully read them! I'm assuming they will be on the back of the wheel?

That would be nice if all wheels had the offsets engraved on the back of the wheels. Mine weren't.
