My Ride: 2006 530i - Sport - 6spd - Orient Blue with Auburn/Anthracite
Hi,
I heard a rumor from a guy at the local BMW/Exotic shop that there will soon be an engine remap available for the N52 engine in my '06 530i. He said it is supposed to add 35-40hp. Has anyone else heard this rumor and is this kind of increase a likely result?
Thanks, Jon.

My Ride: 535d Sport, carbon black, media pack, visibility pack, grey leather, heated seats, sun protection glass, voice control, Eibach ProKit, 19" 166 style wheels, e-maps ECU remap to 325hp and 640NM, top speed limiter removed
you can have them mapped here in Europe nearly since they were out. I would regard 35-40 horses as very, very optimistic.
If you assume around the 10-max 12% mark, you're closer.
Nevertheless, it's not only the horses but much more the increased torque and throttle response, that will give you a very noticeable gain in driving pleasure.

My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
A fact is that new E92 will have the N54B30 engine with 275 hp
and 315 Nm.
The other fact is that the same car will be available with the N54B35
twin-turbo engine, 306 hp and 400 Nm between 1300 - 5000 rpm.
Also fact is that BMW MY's start in September, in Germany, EU!
The facelift will come in fall '07 (?), so why not update the engines now?

If you constantly plant your foot down it will use more.
In normal day to day driving you will usually better your consumption as a proper map optimises all performance parameters from the average settings.

Is this an "official BMW" re-mapping or would this void the warranty on a new vehicle?
