having joined forums have had nothing but help from you guys re- my m5 steering wheel and who can supply me . but have a new one . has anybody had a chip upgrade on a 530d have been told by a chap loacally that a chip will increase my bhp from 218hp to 290hp and better on fuel.with a price of 400pounds has anyone had this done and what can i expect

but in practice if you want 290bhp you need else than a chip...than the boost if you change too much damages the part.filter etc. I think the healthy one is between 250-260-70, we have some modded here.
Mine is the opposite for the moment... 210bhp to pay less ... than it will be 580Nm and 255bhp-260, but I prefer the tourque than the hp.

Indeed - but if BMW do find out my belief is that DMS will cover any 'warranty' claims instead... (SO you're not totally stuck)

BMW will always detect it, search the forum, if you push all the way in the stick at the speedo you see a trinagle! Our car is reduced to 210bhp by BMW AG in the factory, to get less tax here.... I pushed it and it is there... then in the service when they put your key in the blue-box they can see if you floored it or trapped your window,
BUT this is normally by new cars, and it is true that aftermarket tuners provide normally additional guarantee after remapping. Be aware that the guarantee covers all parts, turbo, common rail, etc.
ohh once your sw is updated the programe is rewrote so the best companies install it again for free...
