I got my Tail Pipe piece from bmw-chromteile.de. This is an absolutely brilliant mod. It fits perfectly and now the car looks complete from the back. In fact now with the fat pipe and the chrome trim this is IMHO better looking that the twin pipes because it makes it look like a BIG engine. I'm finally not embarassed to show off my behind . If you were holding back I would suggest you order your's now. The guys at bmw-chromteile.de are great and are very professional.

I didn't think the stock 520D tailpipe looked that bad until I read this thread..... ordered mine last week and waiting patiently..... adding this might just prompt a wash / polish / photo moment

Just ordered one. Makes the back end look good. Used to have one on my Lexus IS200 Sport and it looked good. Can't wait for it to arrive. Happy days

As Bruce wrote above, finally not ashamed to show people my behind. (Erm, that came out a bit wrong )

Good to hear other 520d drivers are happy with the results -- it was a long wait

After many months of searching, there is finally a supplier (www.bmw-chromteile.de) who will supply an easy fit chrome tail pipe cover for the 163ps E60 & E61 520d. From what I can gather, it is in fact the OEM Chrome tail pipe that is now supplied with the 177ps (LCI) 520d models, however I cannot confirm that it is OEM. Either way, it fits like a glove. Here are some facts:

Applicable models: 520d with the 163ps 2.0d engine, both E60 and E61
Supplier: www.bmw.chromteile.de -- online shop in many languages
Price: approx. EUR45, including tax and shipment within Germany
Fitting: It has clamps on the inside, which means you just have to slide it on -- with force ofcourse. You do not need to bolt or weld the parts. Its plug and play, but is clamped very tightly on to the original tail pipe.

I'm over the moon with the result and it now looks like the 5er models' chrome tail pipes, i.e. OEM and tasteful

Here are a whole host of before and after pictures, plus a few others.
Quality of the pics is not perfect, because these were taken with my camera phone. Still able to show off the shine though

Pleased to hear that -- you are absolutely correct in what you write above; it simply looks as it should have done from the factory, with a tasteful chrome tail pipe finisher like all other models in the 5er range. At least they fitted seats in the 520d and didn't forget to add them to the standard fittings list
