Does anyone have an opinion/experience with installation of the 3M clear protective 'mask'? Is it worth it, does it detract from the appearance of the car?
I've got an 20O5 545 Black with the M-technic kit, but I don't want to detract from the looks of the car. My 02 530 Silver has it and it has done pretty well over time..

I have it on my 08 550i and I feel that it is a must with the low ground clearance. I can already see a mark on the film where it saved my headlight. I was on the fence until I took delivery of my car and decided I wanted to keep it looking mint.

there are loads of post about this.
I was thinking about it last month and now I did not get it cos in HK itis much cheeper to get a repaint than the 3M clear bra.
I don't know if itis the same in US.

I've got the Invis Bra covering 1/7 of the front of my bonet, my headlight, front panels including front apron spoiler, foglights, 1/7 of front side panels to match bonet and side mirrors. Cost AUD 800.

Prior to having them installed, I was on a drive and was overtaken by a car which then pulled in very closely in front of me. My car got sprayed with sand and stone. Ended up with massive amounts of stone chips on the bonet, windscreen, headlights etc etc...damage repair bill AUD 9,000...insurance claim...sigh..btw, you can't change the covers on the headlight as they're all one piece. At the very least, get them covered.

Went on a long road trip after the bra was installed. Minor stone chips in areas not covered by bra...everything else was covered beautifully

Highly recommended.

I switched from 3M to Ventureshield on my current E60; appears more durable, and template fit was better too; also, my local installer has just started offering whole bonnet protection, which makes it even more invisible.

Have a look at www.ventureshield.com
