2nd air filter?

I installed a k&n filter the other day in my 550 and I noticed a second filter that appears to be built in to the top of the airbox. Is this supposed to be left alone or taken out?

i think you are referring to the charcoal air filter...most members actually remove it..

How often do you change your air filter? I typically change it every oil change, is that too early to change?
