How did you get the idrive controller secured to the console cover? Is it just a friction fit in the cutout?

Funny I don't recall any of the other e60 retrofits mentioning cutting the center console...such a major step.

 

Yeah friction here, it is very very tight. Usually I use hot glue on the back to secure the controllers, but in this instance since I am using the template, it is very strong.

It is mandatory to cut off the decorative trim and the console below, controller would not fit otherwise.
