I am looking for options and opinions on upgrades to my stock suspension. I have a 2007 550i Sport with the stock 18" wheels. I initially plan on keeping the wheels.
I have heard the most about Koni/Eibach combo or Bilstein options. I want better handling, but I do not want a rock hard ride either.
Thoughts? thx

even though there is a package available with the eibach pro-kits with Koni FSDs, Id recommend the eibachs paired with bilstein sports. I personally have this setup.

My take on this is that if you are planning on replacing the shocks when you do lowering springs, since you would be pretty close in price range to coilovers, why not do those instead?
You'll get more adjustability out of them then if you were to go with a spring/shock combo. If you were local, I could work out a deal on some coilovers installed for you!

coilovers you can adjust the height, most popular have been the KWs, mainly the V2s. with H&R sports the drop on your 550 will be 1.3" in front and 1.2" in rear. with eibach pro-kit springs, the drop will be 1.2" all around.

Would it be correct that just a spring/shock replacement can be done more readily by a local shop without the setup variables?
thx

I don't think you can go wrong with Koni. I'd get H&R sport springs, too, instead of Eibach. The drop is much cleaner and the handling is better. The Eibach is too close to stock sport drop and isn't good enough for a perfect look in my opinion.
ALSO, (and I laugh when I say this), please note that once you upgrade your suspension as you're planning to do I give it 6 months before you are absolutely dying to upgrade your wheels and tires to 19" or 20" instead of your current wheels!
THE MOD BUG WILL HIT YOU, SIR!

My Ride: 2010 M5 alpine white, black full leather, etc.
The suspension upgrades that make the biggest difference for the least expense are changing out of the runflats to a superior summer or all-season z-rated tire and switching to a firmer spring set-up all around. These two changes will improve handling and overall driveability without any possible problems associated with quasi-track setups.

yes, the mod bug is an easy one to get.
I would like 19" M5 wheels...I have seem some chromed as well.
I would only use OEM wheels...going too far and the car loses its BMW 'sophistication'..if you know what I mean. These aren't Subaru's.
I already ordered an angel eye upgrade.
