I have a 2003 E60 which has had the LM2 module fitted back in 2014 by BMW. The car also has adaptive bi-xenon lighting. I was wondering can anyone share their experience of enabling the halo lights along with the orange marker lights (not turn signals) as DRLs?
My low beam xenons would have normally been on 24/7 no matter the time of day (green LED on switch is steady, not flashing) and the lights would turn with my steering as they should. When I was looking at the coding of the LM2 I noticed that the RLS was not enabled. I switched that to active in NCS and now the xenons are off in daylight which leaves only the halo lights on. Progress I’m sure. If I cover the RLS the xenons (and orange markers) come back on as expected.

Oh, just to add, I also found that AHL2 is not active in my LM2 coding yet INPA reports that I have AHL2 installed. Not sure what difference that may make to this.

For DRL the Angel eyes can be enabled via coding but the Orange eyebrows need to be hardwired for it.
AHL2 is the Euro spec software for the adaptive lighting. Instead of turning with the wheel it also allows the headlights to focus and unfocus with vehicle speed.

Ah! Thanks for the reply. When you say hard wired, do you mean wired directly to the LM2? That would make sense as the side marker option in code makes no difference if it’s on or off.
I have the halo lights working fine via coding.
As for the AHL2 option, that sounds like something I would benefit from. I find the beam focus awful compared to the likes of my old Audi A3 with xenons. I’ll enable and see what happens.

Most people run a power wire to the feed for the Angel eye lights. For some reason BMW never intended them to be run as DRL lights so there is no setting for it.
Being in europe you should have it factory; only North america got rid of it for stupid DOT compliance. Its basically AHL2_ENABLE, set to active and done

I’ll look in to the wiring diagrams and see what’s involved for connecting the side markers to the LM2 directly. One thing that puzzles me though, they come on with the halo lights if I set the headlight switch to side lights. Surely the outputs still come from the LM2? That’s got to mean they are connected directly?
