I just got back from Midas and the guy there looked under my car and said it would cost almost $200 to remove the resenator and weld it with a Y pipe. Does this sound insane just to remove a resenator and weld??

how much louder is the exhaust with the resonator removed? i am used to driving manual transmission and shift by listening to the engine/exhaust. this 545i is too damn quiet. i like it but it's too quiet. i also wouldnt want too loud like how i used to have on my evo. turboback exhaust. i sometimes like it but not all the time.

I saw my car underneath and there is only 1 resenator I could find. And if I had to remove it, it was obvious that an Y pipe was the solution. But how did you install an X pipe.. maybe I am missing something? Pls educate.

Xpipe installed only if you get quad exhaust, if doing dual it would only require a Y pipe which i paid only $100 including the YPipe.

$200 is WAY too much. Shop around for another muffler place.

Are prices so cheap in USA ?
For $100 (?63) nobody would lift the car on the bench here, not starting to cut the exhaust and replace a part .
