I was really hoping to get the 20" General Exclaim UHPs, based on the reviews from this forum ("best bang for the buck", etc...). However, Tire Rack says that they don't make this tire, in 20s, to fit my car. But Wheel Warehouse says they usually put 245/35/20 and 275/30/20 on e60s and they're fine.

So, I went back to Tire Rack and here was their response: "Those sizes are too tall for the car. I would look at 245/30R20 and 295/25R20 and they don't make them. The sizes you mention are going to throw off the speedometer, odometer and gear ratio. They are a full inch taller than stock and could rub."

So, my question... is anyone else running 245/35/20 and 275/30/20? If so, any issues?

it also depend on the width of the rims you are trying to get, i am running that same tires size with 20" asanti 8.5" in front 10" in back and it is perfect for me. maybe a lil rub on bumps but with four people in the car

I have 20 x 9 fronts (245/35/20) and 20 x 10.5 rears (275/30/20) that I got recently and they rub big time. Tires are Falken. I'm lowered on Eibach pro kit. I have a feeling my shocks are worn out. I had the fenders rolled yesterday which helped a little, but still rubs.

I had 245/35/20 and 275/30/20's on my 20in m6 replicas and never rubbed once. I was on a stock non sport suspension. Tirerack gave me the same warning and i said i want the tires and they said ok they were just checking before they shipped them out. I got them and everything worked perfectly.

btw my rims sizes were 20x9 and 20x10. offset on the front was +20 and the offset on the rear was +25

In addition, the wheel offsets are also key to fitting 35/30 series 20" tires.

I have just acquired a set of 20" Hamann alloys that are 10.5J rears and 9J fronts. According to both Hamann and AC Schnitzer, the correct tyre configuartions are 245/30/20 (F) and 285/25/20 ? or 255/30/20 (F) and 295/25/20 ?. These configurations keep the rolling radius the same as stock which means there will be less than the 2% allowed for speedometer tolerances AND handling consistent.

In regards to rubbing, wheel width is only one minor part. It mostly depends on the offset... a 10'' +35 offset wheel won't be even close to rubbing in the rear but a 10'' +5 offset wheel in the rear will most definitely. Offset, width, and tire sizes all factor into what will rub and what not.

I was curious about this too since it seems like most people with 20'' wheels are running 245/35/20 front and 275/30/20 rear. But considering my OEM 18'' are on 245/40/18 and 275/35/18 it doesn't make sense. I always saw it as for every inch bigger your wheel, your tire size height (aka the middle number) should decrease by 5 (aka 5%) to keep the overall diameter close to stock for speedometer, odometer, etc. purposes. In this case, the people with 20'' wheels should be going 245-255/30/20 fronts and 275-295/25/20 rears.

Then again I would like to hear other's chime in on this as well.

yes it is true those sidewalls of 35 and 30 are thick. most with this tire setup with 20s, also depending on the offset and how aggressive that is along with the width, had to have their fenders rolled. the reason why we do these tire sizes recommending them (but we always give the option of running the standard sizes) is mainly for more rim protection. standard sidewall sizes for the e60 on 20s would be 30/25
