I don't do much spirited driving...usually. Which tire would suit me best when running on 20" wheels. In order of importance:
comfort ride low noise rim protection long treadwear performance Thanks. |
I'm happy with my Hankooks.....except for winter driving, they SUCK in that catagory

Continental ExtremeContact DW! Hands down! https://5series.net/forums/public/st...t/thumbsup.gif

Between those two, I'd choose Conti DW's any day. Even if you only read the reviews, you'll see that Hankooks are simply not on the same level. And check out the tread wear rating on DW's - they are supposed to last 2-3 times longer than V12's. Also, wet handling is just awesome.
I like harder sidewalls than either of these tires, but my winter set is Continental Extreme DWS tires - and they are great. Very quiet, soft and handle awesome. Their sidewalls are softer than I'd like and they do roll in hard cornering. But I doubt that between DW's and V12's, their sidewalls are much different. Perhaps, DW's are a little softer, but it does not necessarily mean that cornering and handling performance will be inferior. As far as I know, the only other tire on par with DW is the PS2 - and PS2 costs twice as much and wears out three times quicker. |

Due to the DWs being softer, do you think it would compromise on rim protection?

I just had a set of 20" Hankooks installed yesterday. So far the ride is softer and slightly quieter than my old General Exclaims, but then they were worn out too which may contribute to the noise factor.
