I painted my calipers black and added an RPI scoop.

(please ignore the dirtiness of the car).

thinking about painting the calipers black as well. did you do it yourself? i want to cover that middle part which you left exposed. how come you didnt?

+1 The part is still rusted. What's the point of painting the caliper and not cover that rust.

ya know, my roommate asked me that same question....

i didn't know what it was...and it looked so distinctly different i just didn't paint it...

saying that out loud (or typing it) actually does sound dumb...

this was a DIY job...i got the dupli color paint kit...

cleaned them real well...i don't think that brake cleaner that comes with kits or even the stuff you buy at the store works very well....the best thing that worked for me was to use wheel cleaner and scrub...then spray the "brake cleaner" to get rid of residue....

i lighlty sanded the outsides and then painted them.

What you see is three coats...but i've only had them now for a month....but it was so easy, if i have to repaint it won't bother me too much.

That piece can be removed easy. Its like a spring.

The RPI scoop is a great mod. I just did mine recently.
