No need just keep it in there.
The F16 is a add on to extend the life of the battery and for a better power to the electrics

So its the same basic concept as adding a capacitor to a aftermarket car stereo?

yes the sound on the f16 for the hi fi will bet better
no the capacitor that install to a car hi fi dose not give the battery life longer.
