Can anyone tell me why 19" wheels are not available from BMW dealers for the sport touring? OK for the saloon apparently.

I think quite a few 19's are available--with appropriate 5-Series specs. Some are pictured in the US 5-Series accessories catalog. This is where I found mine. Check out the 19" BMW Style 101's in the first "Mind-Candy" 545i Gallery Photos link in my sig below.

I think its becuase the tourings can't accommodate the 9.5J rears - maybe you could have 8.5J all round tho

Apparently it is a matter of approval. I do not know about other countries but at least in Italy and most probably in EU you have written in car papers which are approved wheels and tires sizes for the specific car. Looking back to my former E60 there where a bunch of sizes going from 16" up to 20" that were approved. Actually on the E61 I noticed that approved are only from 16" to 18" and not even the 275 for the rear wheels but max width 245. However I am pretty sure that BMW has really very good reasons not approving larger sizes also because this influences the retrofit wheels sales with profit loss.

But other brands, line Hartge,or Alpina, homologate the 19" wheels, in the E61, with no changes! Why??
