I'd like to better understand why OEM 166 wheels don't line up on a non-M5 as they do on the M5......Why is it that OEM 166 wheels line up with fender lip on non-M5, but if you look at an M5 they fall slightly inside the lip. Is it only because of the M5 fenders being wider/rolled or are there other differences? In other words, if a non-M5 car had M5 fenders, would we see the wheels/tires line up exactly like on the M5, slightly inside the lip? I ask because having it fall under the lip affords us non-M5 owners with a greater limitation on how much we lower the car.

Sorry I meant FRONT (Rears line up inside the fender lip if you get the M5 offset (M6 offset or M5 plus 12mm spacers is a different story)).

Maybe I wasn't clear... I am not thinking of spacers in the front....
Do I understand you... with M5 fenders (i.e.rolled/widened) on a non-M5 car, the wheels will sit inside the fender lip, just like the M5?

yes...m5 fenders on a non m5 e60 = M5 fit/look...so I would assume you will get the look that you want...you may even want to run the standard M5 tires size of 255's in the front as well then

Thanks for the clarification, much appreciated. Never realized M5 fenders were so signifcantly wider. I'll leave my non-M5 fenders as is... dispite the fact I can't lower too much or it rubs the fender lip. W
here's member howitzer's lowered....
