Hi Everyone,

since i changed to my summer shoes 2 weeks ago, i feel like the front tires are rubbing. This seems to happen when i am parking the car and have it fully locked to the left or to the right. For instance, when i am steering into a car park, i suddenly feel more resistance and the car slows down faster. as soon as i move away from the full lock the resistance is gone. is this a fantasy? are you guys with your 166 feeling any rubbing at full lock?

my configuration
530d m sport - sports suspension, 166 alloys with 245/35/19 front with active steering.

thanks for your help

greetinz from austria

You shouldnt have any problems with 245/35's on the 166s. Most cars I feel more resistance at full lock anyways... check your wheel well if it was rubbing you'll see marks. I think even with 245/40's you would be ok with full lock on the wheel its just when you fully compress the shocks you'll slightly rub the fenders...

I have the same wheel and tire configuration as you. I have not felt any kind of rubbbing when I park. I'll check tomorrow and look for any signs.

You should not have any problems with that tire setup. I have the 240/40 and on full crank I may kiss the front/rear of the plastic wheel well - which will flex outward anyways.

Just crank your wheels and look in the wheel well and you will see.

You may just be feeling some resistance on the engine from the steering pump when you are at full crank.

Sport suspension, here. Was going to lower with Eibach springs but eventually decided against it. I can imagine the rubbing I would have had... And mine are OEM 166s. The offsett should be just like yours since they are M5 rims.

Hi guys,

thanks for the fast replies...

i have OEM 166s with the standard offsets (i think 12 front and 28 rear). Essentially, i was worried about the sport suspension that could have made the difference but as jiio says, he also has sports suspension.

otherwise, with my winter shoes (oem 135" with 245/40/18), i have no issues with more resistance at full crank (as far as i can remember). but overall, good sign that no one else is facing any issues. will do some tests with chalk and let you guys know.

see you

Rsyed,
Drove my car around this weekend. Did not notice anything. Turned the wheel full crank. Seems fine to me.
