Wondering if anyone else on here has done this? I'm in Toronto and had a local shop sell me the parts and do the install for me. Apparently they sell & ship all across Canada and into the US as well!
I'm glad you like it, looks much too large for me. I like my Mr12Volt box that gives me CarPlay on the original screen using the iDrive knob. I tried one of the Avin 8.8" Android screens a while back and it looked nice, but I felt the E60 platform which wasn't designed for touch has the screen a little too far for me to comfortably touch. Granted, yours will be a few inches closer. I like the OEM look in my own cars.

I was actually looking hard at one of those but realized quickly that the screen would be too far to reach. This unit can use the iDrive joystick as well but touch is much easier on it. To be honest, touching the left half of the screen is perfect but I gotta reach if I need to touch the right half, but for the most part I don't need to. The central location allows your co-pilot to handle a lot of the button pushing too LOL... It's not perfect of course. I ended up disconnecting Android Auto to it as I found the sound quality really suffered going over Bluetooth. I ended up connecting my phone to the car BT for calls, and then downloading all the apps I wanted on the tablet. I find the image is sharper and I set Spotify to High Quality for music and it sounds a LOT better! Even on normal quality, the music was way better... Most notably the bass wouldn't break up like when I was using wireless Android Auto. I have the option to use wired Android Auto but will the sound quality improve? Does anyone know? I really liked the Android Auto UI.
Brings the interior right up to date. Love it. Be interesting to see what the signal is like from it when using it for music compared to the OEM CCC unit.

Not sure what you mean by "signal" but I'm using Spotify right now and I have the settings turned to High Quality for music (not paid subscription so I can go higher) and it sounds pretty good. It's literally an Android tablet running Android 13 so anything that works with Android 13 will work with this. I'm downloading YouTube and YouTube Music on it as well and will compare the apps. So far I like Spotify but I've actually heard a lot of good things about YouTube Music and the wifey is more used to using YouTube at home so I might go with that subscription instead. Anyone with suggestions for music apps and other things that might keep me entertained / awake on long trips, please let me know!
