Default 08 535xi exhaust choices

I've been looking at the threads and looking for exhaustfor my 08 535xi w cobb

I have been waiting for a RPI cat-back xi setup special bend but it looks like it isn't happening unless you can tell me different. I have been watching.

So between the Billy Boat axle back and the Magna flow cat I would like to hear anyone's opinions pros and cons of either. Sound bites.

I had the opportunity to borrow a SLS GT AMG 63 (Gull wing) for 3 days and got addicted to the sound. I know none of these will touch the sound but deep raspy would be a plus.
Any info would be great.

I'm trying to do the same thing. I personally talked to Eloy from RPI for a XI bend but nothing. Based On research, I'd say the next best thing is Magnaflow, Dinan, or a custom exhaust. If you're going for dual set-up, take into consideration the configuration because some members have experienced power loss.

I'm planning on doing this as well but if you get one before me, I'm in NY and would love to check it out.

How's the Cobb tune for you?

Love the Cobb. It totally puts some ass under you and throws your head back. Easy to put in and take out. For our xis there's not a lot of easy mods as in downpipes (have to drop half the sub frame) lowering (h&rs or coil overs only choices) so being like 1000 dollars cheaper than a Dinan flash and able to adjust the map it's a bonus. You can even take out of car and sell to someone else when you sell. Can't beat it.
Highly recommend.

I think based on what I've researched think it will be the billy boat (B& axle back. I think the best sound.

There is no power loss on the 535 with duals, these reports come from those who have naturally aspirated engines. Do you know where the restrictions are on the Xi? If its on the right side, you could drop the battery cover panel and measure to see what size would best fit. Perhaps the muffler could be located a little further towards the front? Not sure, but I am sure it could be done.

Cobb is my next mod for sure. Billy Boat real nice but I think it's kind of loud, but then again, how can you tell from a YouTube video. I'd have to hear it in person.

If Tony is saying there is no power loss on 535's, I think I might want to go the dual route but if I stay the solo left side route, I might just go with Dinan/Magnaflow.

Let me know which route you go with, I'd love to hear it in person.

I have a 535 with custom duals added and there was no loss. I,ve been told that you could actually just cut the pipe and have nothing if you have turbos. I don't think I would try that.... When I say no power loss, I'm referring to how the car feels before and after. I have not dyno'd the car.

I'm having a BB installed in a couple of weeks. But also doing some AR dp with it. Just doing it for the sound and looks, not expecting and power gain from the axle back.

Your AR's will definitely help in the sound department and add 20HP. Billy Boat will def. add sound and small power gains. Please let me know when you get it. I've been wanting to do the exhaust mod since I got the car and really want to hear someone with a 535 exhaust mod before I pull the trigger. I don't want overly loud but do want a slightly stronger note then the stock setup

I can tell you for sure that the Billy Boat is not loud at all. It gives you a deep low growl. Ive had mine for 2 years. Not obnoxiously.

Deep low V8-esque growl is what I want. You have a video clip martinroman?
