Hi everyone! I'm new to this site and just picked up an '05 545i Sport with 36k miles on it. It's a great car but I'm looking for some input on a performance chip. I'd like to get some more power out of the motor and better gas mileage if possible. The gas mileage is a low priority. I'd also like to be able to get rid of the low speed/low RPM stutter the engine has. I've read about problems with this and my car seems to do the same thing...it's kind of jerky at low speeds.
I've seen a few performance chips online ranging from $70 - over $1k. Does anyone have any experience with any of them and/or some recommendations? This one from G Force - http://www.gforcechips.com/bmw545i.aspx - appears to be right up my ally but I'm not sure what the best way to go.
Oh...and I absolutely do not want to do any harm to my vehicle!! I'm fairly savy with electronics so limited soldering and running a volt meter are no problems. I saw a couple install manuals that make you do that.
Anyway...thanks in advance for all of your help!

Pretty much garbage. Go for the Dinan remap, SprintBooster v.2, and a reputable exhaust.

I had my ECU flashed with PowerChip on my 545i and I'm very happy with it. I had the Stage 1 Dinan tune and this new tune is much more aggressive. I've heard very good things about Singh ECU tunes also but I heard this vendor is difficult to work with. I definitely agree with ck-e60 about getting the SprintBooster for your car. It's definitely a night and day difference in throttle response. I'm sure others will chime in with more info.

You can also contact RPI and go for the ESS Tune they offer. Combine that with an RPI exhaust and your car will be much better off than with some crap from eBay
