So I order all the parts I need to do my front brake change and get to work on the brakes after real work today. Get everything broken down, took the rotors to be turned, waited got them back all the while UPS delivers my Posi-Quiet pads just in time. I pull them out of the box and start to put everything back together and the pads just wont work!!!!! I got the part number for the pads off the forums and confirmed the fitment of that part number with autopartswarehouse.com where I ordered them and they are supposed to fit my 04 525i auto. I took these pics...can anybody confirm these are indeed the wrong pads or am I just an idiot and missing something? My car is on the stands and I'm down a vehicle now and really need to get this straightened out. Any help is appreciated!!!!

Well that can't be the right set of pads. Without the clip those pads are useless. I would say just cut the top tips off but that would be pointless seeing the outside pad just won't work. Carquest normally stocks pads for your car if you need to get it done ASAP on a saturday. Thats really your only option..

Are you doing the front pads only? I'm confused with the labeling of pics as "front" AND "rear."

I just did my brakes (545) last week and took a pic of the pads I removed. I'm comparing my pics to yours and it appears that the "front" pads (your pic) are for the outboard front (based on the "extra tips") but the clips on it belong inside the piston which is inboard so that don't add up right.

Your "rear" pad looks exactly like my rear pad outboard. They don't require clips BUT are for the rear axle calipers only.

What I noticed on my pads are the one's with the "extra tip" go on the outboard side of caliper whereas the one's without the tips belong inboard of caliper. Hope this helps. Good Luck
