My Ride: Current - 330 Sport Topaz Blue, Grey Leather, HK HIFI...lost interest!! Waiting for - 535d Sport, Silver Grey, Foldy Mirrors, 172 19",Logic7,Pro Radio,Through load,Heated Front Seats,High Gloss shadowline,Black Maple,Headlight wash,Sun Protection Glass.

Having had my order confirmed with the option (as listed by my leasing company) Pro Radio with MP3, they called today to ask me what it was I thought I had ordered!!!

So I responded with my understanding, it being.... that as I had specified the Pro Radio option, I would be able to see MP3 track info on screen while playing an MP3 recorded CD in the single CD player slot under the AC controls. I dont have Nav specified.

I'm I losing the plot or am I correct?

My dealer informed me when i was ordering my car that as from September the pro nav will have mp3 capability.If this is true or not I have know idea !!!!

Thanks that's encouraging, however I havnt ordered Nav just the pro Radio, definateley seen something on this forum somewhere saying MP3 was working with the Pro Radio but cant find it... Dealers just dont seem to know their product... they should read this

It is my understanding that MP3 playback is available with pro radio with CIP 16.2 or newer if you do not have NAV.

You must have Professional Radio and not Business to have MP3 playback.

When I ordered my 530D late last year I (eventually) was told by BMW that MP3 will not work on UK Non Nav cars unless you order the Pro Radio. I believe your E60 should play MP3 but you'll need to be running CIP 16.2 or later which I'm guessing you will if your car is a factory order.

There are various postings on here demonstrating the single CD slot playing MP3 files straight from the disc. Forget the CD stacker though..the current unit can't do MP3, though again there has been talk on this board of a new MP3 compatible unit coming out some at some time.

it is true I changed my order ...months ago to go for the PRO radio as w the new(er) sw we will be able to listen to Mp3 and will have the HUD but sorry no NAV for me it is not enough or ok whatever even if it is one oem built.

SO YES YOU WILL HAVE THE MP3 w sw and PRO radio, also chosen this as it has 2 tuners better reception even in tunnels. GN.

My Ride: 2005 545i with everything

I just got my 2005 545i prosound NAV a couple weeks ago. I haven't been able to play MP3s though. Disappointing. I heard a rumor that my NAV-DVD player can play MP3s but I haven't tried it.

The sound system, by the way, is just unbelievable.
