YIKES Rodent nesting

Had my wife's Rav4 at the dealer for a minor recall (not unintended acceleration)!
They discovered this under the engine cover!! They even chewed some of the foam insulation on that too
Fortunately only one wire was chewed through the insulation and that was a minor fix. We have lots of small critters living in the neighborhood but have had no tell-tale evidence of rodents near the cars in the driveway.
But when it stops raining I definitely will investigate my e60 and Z3 engine compartments - under the covers so to speak.

i always hear stories like this, but thankfully i've never seen it personally
does her car sit for extended periods of time? Looks like it made it nice and cozy in there

No - it may sit unused only a day or two during the week ...and I've never seen any 4-legged critters escaping when she drives off!

Rats, mice, and squirrels chew on things like that a little bit at a time to see if it is edible. They chew off a bit. Wait. See if it makes them sick. And then go back for more if it doesn't.
