Hi Gang,

Had the car in for a service, and low and behold, it seems like the valet takign the car to the car wash scratched the wood trim while cleaning the interior. After discovering a deep scratch in the woodtrim, I drove back down to the dealer so he coudl have a look, and he agreed to have the trim replaced.

Couple of questions. Since it's the trim around the stick shift, should I worry there could be a rattle with the new plate. Or is this fairly easy work. The tech who will be doign the work is the best I have come across, so I have full confidence. Secondly, has this happened to anyone else. Don't you find it frustrating? I feel like the next time my car is there, i will pass on the car wash.

I think I am doing the right thing by having the piece replaced. The car is leased, but it would bother me everytime i drive. Or

Ya dealers somtimes do that stuff... what can you do. As long as they admit to it it'll be fine. Let them replace it. I believe the center console is a simple snap in piece so dont worry about rattles... ask Rody, my530i and many others... they've taking theirs apart to replace the center trim and gear lever and I havent heard of any problems from them.

My dealer deeply scratched the wood piece around the gear shift, and the long piece that covers the dash in front of the passenger seat. After my bringing it to their attention, they replaced both pieces. Both fit fine without any rattles or gaps, but be careful that the wood grain matches. There is now a slight but noticiable difference between the new and original wood pieces in my car, but at least it looks better that having the deep scratches.
