Did a little bit more diagnosis on it today, this is more for cataloguing the diag process I'm doing. I found a section in the diagnostics that tracks wakeup commands, what module issues it, and how long before the subsequent wakeup commands it was issued. I found that when walking away from my car for an hour and a half, it did not log any wakeup commands on the CANbus. However, when I locked the car and walked away for 20 minutes, I came back to find a wakeup command had been logged 5 minutes before I returned to the car, and it had been sent by either the CAS module or the KBM. CAS had logged a wakeup command sent 5 minutes and 33 seconds before I returned to the car, but KBM just had "unknown" in the data field next to it. Next step is trying removing those modules one at a time and seeing if removing either one stops the draw and waking issue.

Wish me luck!

Lucky you have access to that feature.

Exclamation Solved

After many weeks of wild goose chase, I solved the problem. It was twofold, one being that the battery I had installed was of a much larger capacity than what the car was coded for, so I remedied that. The major thing however, was my alternator. I had repeated fault codes for BSD bus missing alternator signal. I removed the alternator, took the voltage regulator off, and found that the contacts where the vreg communicated with the alternator body were badly corroded. I cleaned the contacts on the regulator and alternator, added some dielectric grease, and reassembled everything. Since then I have not had the battery die despite leaving it parked in my garage for a week and a half, and I have not had any recurrence of the alternator signal missing fault. In my specific case, it seems as though both things I changed were working in tandem to not charge my battery sufficiently.

I wouldn't necessarily say your electrical issue was 2 fold because not programming the new battery has nothing to do with a drain nor an alternator issue. If your alternator was working correctly you wouldn't have even noticed your car was programmed for a smaller battery. Either way glad you figured it out and got back on the road
